The FBI has launched an investigation after billionaire pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide by hanging himself in prison a day after lawsuit by one of his ‘sex slave’ was unsealed. The document implicated many rich and powerful men from the elite circles Epstein was once a member of, included in the lawsuit were 2 top ranking democrats and the Duke of York, Prince Andrew.
According to the story released on Saturday morning, “Jeffrey Epstein hanged himself inside his New York City jail cell and was discovered by prison guards shortly before 7am. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.”
The New York Post reported on Sunday that no surveillance video exists of Epstein’s death.
About three weeks ago prison authorities found him semiconscious with marks on his neck, though it was not clear if he had tried to harm himself or had been attacked. As a result, he was put on suicide watch, on July 29, he was removed from the watch. It is however not yet clear who made that evaluation and judgement for him to be removed from suicide watch.
The billionaire’s death comes just 24 hours after more than 2,000 pages of documents detailing the lurid allegations of his sexual abuse of underage girls were unsealed to the public. The documents indicted a number of powerful men.
With his death, the case of sex trafficking that has indicted a lot of powerful men and women in the world may just die with him. According to former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti, “the criminal case against Epstein dies with him,”. This means that thousands of questions will be dying with him and justice would never be served to the rape victims.
Who was Jeffery Epstein
Jeffery Edward Epstein before his death, was a level 3 sex offender, a billionaire and self proclaimed founder of the Clinton Global Initiative, he was a man full of mystery. Source of his wealth has been a topic for conspiracy theorists. Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1953 to working class Jewish parents. Though he dropped out of college without getting a degree, Epstein started his career in New York City as a Calculus and Physics teacher at the elite Dalton School from 1973 to 1975.
While he was teaching, Epstein met Alan Greenberg who was the chairman of the investment bank Bear Stearns. In 1982, Epstein founded a rival investment bank with the name J Epstein and company.
During the 1980s, Epstein met Stephen Hoffenberg, who was the Head of Towers Financial Corp and the owner of the NewYork Post. Towers Financial Corp was identified by a Vanity Fair report as a collection agency that was supposed to buy debts people owed to hospitals, banks, and phone companies.
Throughout the 1980s, these men were close friends and travel together. Hoffenberg made Epstein his protégé, and set him up an office at the Villard Houses, a historic landmark on Madison Avenue, with a $25,000 monthly payment as a consultant.
The two men launched what proved to be unsuccessful efforts to take over Pan America World Airways in 1987 and Emery Air Freight in 1988.
In 1995, Hoffenberg was charged with federal charges stemming from a $460 million Ponzi scheme, he pleaded guilty to it. The scam involved selling fraudulent notes and bonds, using money from later investors to pay interest that was owed to earlier investors. Hoffenberg was sentenced to 20 years in prison, he later accused Epstein and his firm of being “co-conspirators” in the Ponzi scheme he had pleaded guilty to. However Epstein was never indicted.
In 1987, Leslie Wexner hired Epstein to be the financial adviser of his company. Leslie Wexner is the chairman and CEO of L Brands (formerly Limited Brands), a retailing and marketing conglomerate that currently includes Victoria’s Secret, Pink, and Bath & Body Works. He is one of America’s longest-serving CEOs, and his net worth is a reported $4.8 billion.
According to a recent report by the Times, Wexner trusted Epstein’s instincts so much, he assigned him power of attorney in July 1991. This allowed him to “hire people, sign checks, buy and sell properties and borrow money — all on Mr. Wexner’s behalf.” However Epstein was not well received by the company workers.
Epstein exploited his proximity to Victoria’s Secret to facilitate his alleged crimes. Jeffrey Epstein reportedly told women and young girls that he was a modelling scout for Victoria’s Secret. So many young girls were going in and out of his home, in the guise that they were auditioning to be models for the lingerie brand, some of them wore school uniforms.
The New York property where Epstein allegedly committed his crimes — a seven-story mansion at 9 East 71st Street — was originally bought by Wexner for $13 million in 1989. He did a full renovation but never moved in himself, preferring to stay in Ohio, where L Brands is headquartered.
According to New York, Wexner “turned over” the property to Epstein in 1995. Many prominent names such as Donald Trump, Nathan Myhrvold – a Microsoft executive, and Mort Zuckerman – a famous real estate mogul and publisher among them had dined in the estate.
During this time Epstein also purchased an island located in the US – Virgin island called “Little Saint James” and a Boeing 727 plane. Over the years, the island has gained a handful of wicked nicknames such as; “Orgy Island,” “Pedophile Island,” and “Island of Sin.” Epstein would often ferry his powerful friends between his luxury residences on his private jet – a plane that would later be dubbed the “Lolita Express” by the press.
In the early 2000, Epstein also became a close associate with Jean Luc Brunel, a modelling scout who founded MC2 Model Management. Epstein invested $1 million into MC2 model to help start the company. Brunel seems to have an arrangement with the U.S. Government where he could get passports or other travel documents for young girls. He would then bring these young girls (girls ranging in age from 12 to 24) to the United States for sexual purposes and farm them out to his friends, including Epstein.
In 1988, 60 minutes interviewed over a dozen of models and they accused Brunel of raping them after drugging them.
In 2000, Epstein also developed a relationship with ex-president, Bill Clinton and donated to the Clinton foundation. It was recorded in the craft’s log books that former US president Bill Clinton flew on Epstein’s jet 26 times.
Present US president, Donald Trump has also been linked to Epstein, in a 2002 article, Trump made light of Epstein’s penchant for young girls.
“I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy,” Trump told New York magazine.
“He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it – Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”
One of Epstein victim had this to say about Donald Trump, “Donald Trump was also a good friend of Jeffrey’s. He didn’t partake in any sex with any of us but he flirted with me. He’d laugh and tell Jeffrey, ‘you’ve got the life.’”
Epstein has also been linked to Prince Andrew, the second son of Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of York, Epstein was reportedly introduced to Prince Andrew in the 1990s through his friendship with his girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, the daughter of the late newspaper tycoon, Robert Maxwell. Ghislaine Maxwell have been accused of “acting as a madam” for Epstein. Multiple witnesses had testified that Maxwell was responsible for “recruiting, maintaining, harbouring and trafficking girls for Epstein”. A number of Epstein’s accusers have frequently identified Maxwell as playing a central role in arranging the abuse of his victims. The most recent accusations were contained in more than 2,000 pages of court documents unsealed last week in connection to a civil case that one of Epstein’s accusers, Virginia Giuffre, filed against Maxwell back in 2015.
As the allegations against Epstein continue to mount, Maxwell withdrew from the public eye and distanced herself from the financier. Her Manhattan townhouse, once a notorious party haunt, has been sold, the Washington Post reported authorities “have had trouble locating” her.
The first allegations of sexual abuse and grooming against Epstein emerged in 2005 when a woman contacted the Palm Beach police, alleging her 14-year-old stepdaughter had been taken to Epstein’s mansion by an older girl. The girl was allegedly paid $300 to strip and massage Epstein.
That triggered an 11-month investigation that drew in the FBI. Interviews with alleged victims and witnesses showed that some of the girls involved were under 18. According to court and police records, Epstein routinely had underage girls brought to his house, where he paid them to give him massages. During the massages, he often subjected the girls to sexual abuse — asking them to touch him while he masturbated, touching them himself, and sometimes having intercourse with them. According to the Herald, he would offer them money to find him more girls — which some of them did, finding recruits at malls and house parties.
In a gruesome trial marred with irregularities, Epstein was finally sentenced to 18 months in prison but he only served 13 of it in a private wing of a Palm Beach county jail despite been sentenced for a federal offence, thanks to a deal signed by US attorney Alexander Acosta, who would later become Secretary of Labor under President Trump.
He was granted work release to go to a “comfortable office” for 16 hours a day, six days a week, despite the fact that the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Department prohibited work release for sex offenders. During his year long jail time, Epstein flew round the country in his private jet to conduct business with approval from court and probation officer.
Even after Epstein pleaded guilty to child prostitution charges in 2008 and serving jail terms, Prince Andrew refused to break off their friendship and they were photographed together following his release from prison. In 2015, Prince Andrew was dragged deeper into the scandal when one of Epstein’s victims said she had been forced to have sex with Andrew on three occasions, when she was just 17.
Out of prison, his legal troubles were far from over, many of his alleged victims came out to sue him. Many of his victims were chosen for their low economic status and were between the ages of 12 to 17 and the rhetoric sounded similar among victims. They are usually approached by Epstein victims or his assistant and told that they can make extra cash by massaging older men.
According to the victims, once being brought to the massage room, she would be greeted by a naked Epstein and often time in the presence of another girl. Then Epstein and the other girl will direct the victim on how the massage should be done and the victim would also be sexually assaulted by Epstein. Afterwards the victim would be paid an amount ranging from $100 to thousand of dollars. Epstein would then coerce the victim to quit their job and continue with him as a prostitute and earn more money in the massage profession. Most of these girls became ‘dead meat’ to Epstein and his friends who only use them as a sexual object. It was revealed that Epstein did not limit his victim to US but abused minors from all over the world to cover his track.
The police observed that Epstein had hidden cameras throughout his home, which was also used to blackmail his victims, friends and associates. It is also used to create and distribute child pornography.
Epstein did not abandon his sex trafficking acts even after arrest and while under state and federal investigation.
Many of Epstein assistants, employees and pilot were aware of his criminal acts but cooperated with him to hide it from the police.
