Vinicius Junior stole the show again for Real Madrid as they beat Leganes 3-0 in the Copa del Rey, with the Brazilian taking the game by storm and being the team’s brightest spark.
Following on from an impressive individual showing against Real Sociedad, Vinicius shone again for Real Madrid and Santiago Solari was impressed.
“He is making great strides,” Solari said of the Brazilian, who scored one of the three goals.
“He has always had the talent, but showing it at the Bernabeu shows his self-confidence and freshness.
“He brings joy and he’s just 18-years old.
“The thing in football is exploding and then sustaining, but he has the things that can break defences.”
Real Madrid’s injury woes have carried into the new year, but Solari believes it is a normal consequence of playing at an elite level.
“It’s an issue,” he said.
“The competition is at the highest level and it demands you to be at your best every day.
“It’s true that there are many injuries, but it’s the side effect of so much competition.”
Keylor Navas returned to the starting XI for the Copa del Rey and performed well, keeping a clean sheet.
“He has been very good,” the coach said.
“He’s a great professional and has all my respect for his past, present and future.
“Because he will continue to be important.”
With Thibaut Courtois on the injury list, Navas could be earning more minutes over the coming days.
